Week 2 Quilt Along & New Quilt

Here are my blocks for week 2 of the quilt along. I went and picked up four more prints for my quilt. I was afraid I was going to have way too much brown in the quilt. So this week I made all my blocks without the main print fabrics. They turnd out pretty cute. My favorite fabric is the dark turquois in the bottom right block.

Because it's the weekend, my husband is gone, all the laundry and dishes are done, and my baby is napping, I started a new quilt! I am all ready in love with it! The color scheme was centered around Christian. I have never sewn anything for him and he reminds me all the time. :) We love to wrap up in blankets and watch movies together, so this quilt will be for US. I showed him the fabric lines I was interested in and he helped pick out the color scheme. I still have 10 more prints that will be going into the quilt. I am so excited for this one!
Here are some finished blocks.

Once I get all the individual blocks done, you put three blocks together to make one block. Here are two examples. You twist and turn them so they are all going different directions.

Can't wait to get more done on this one. I am definitely accumulating quilt tops. I still don't dare to try quilting them on my own yet.

One A Day Quilt Along

I joined in on my first quilt-a-long with Crazymomquilts. I am so excited! While I was home I got these 13 prints for the quilt. (THANKS MOM!) I chose really bright fun fabric. I was second guessing myself the second she started cutting my selection. But I think the quilt will be fun! The finished size of the quilt is 66"x 90". I am thinking I am going to turn mine into two smaller quits because of my fabric choice. We will see once I get going further.
We are suppose to sew one block a day, but it is easier for me to get mine done in one nap! Here are my blocks for the week:

This is my favorite block of the week!

I have lots of updating to do but it will have to wait until my Mothers Day projects are done!

More Projects

I am trying to do as many home made gifts as I can this year. I really enjoy making things and really it's the only thing that's keeping me sane right now. Christian travels so much and I am always alone. When Jellybean is sleeping I am always making something! :)

Here are a few recent gifts I have made-

My niece Madison's birthday was this weekend and she had requested a watch. I made her two bands she can trade back and forth.

Savy's birthday was last weekend and I sent her this bag with the crayon roll I put on her a while back. This was my first time doing applique. I thought it tuned out really cute!

This is a necklace I made for my sister in law Alisa. I am really loving the charms lately! I made a random pattern which I am so proud of. Random is so hard for me!

This is what I made for Rookie. She loves birds and I was so excited I found these charms.

Now for my quilting. Man this quilting business is a lot of work! It is really time consuming as well, but I love it! I found a foot so I can sew accurate seam allowances but it is still hard. Practice is the only way to get better. So I will keep sewing away.

This quilt is one I finished piecing today. I have it all laid out to be sewn together. 80 blocks will keep me busy for a while. The pattern is a disappearing nine patch. I am not sure what size it will be when I am done. Hopefully close to a lap size.

I got the idea from this tutorial.

I made my first stacked coins baby quilt. I love the pattern! You can use scraps for a really random look. I used two charm packs in Swanky by Moda. The white sashing looks really good once it's quilted and looks all crinkly.

This quilt is almost done. It has a really cute border that I haven't tackled yet. This is one of my favorites! I love all the bright colors. I'm not sure I can give this one up.

I got this crazy idea to make two log cabin baby quilts. I get ideas in my head and I can't move on until I try them out. These babies are interesting. Each section of fabric sewn you have to iron and square up. Ugh!

I really like this quilt style because you can combined so many different kinds of fabric and have it look great.

I used the left over fabric from Shanda's baby bedding and added two more scraps I had from making bags for this one. I just decided to applique flowers in some of the corners so I am not all the way done. I always seem to add more work for myself.

Here is a close up of the flower.

I need some quilts for boys since I don't know anyone having a girl. Here is my first boy quilt. I think I might need to save it in case I have a boy one day. I really love the color combination.

I used this tutorial for both quilts.

I have lots of quilt tops but none of them are finished. I really want to learn how to quilt all the layers together on my sewing machine. I would love to send them all out and have them done on a long arm, but that would brake my bank. So I have been reading up on it and I ordered a foot for my machine so I can start with the basics. If anyone has any tips on quilting I would love any help I can get!
