I am trying to do as many home made gifts as I can this year. I really enjoy making things and really it's the only thing that's keeping me sane right now. Christian travels so much and I am always alone. When Jellybean is sleeping I am always making something! :)
Here are a few recent gifts I have made-
My niece Madison's birthday was this weekend and she had requested a watch. I made her two bands she can trade back and forth.
Savy's birthday was last weekend and I sent her this bag with the crayon roll I put on her a while back. This was my first time doing applique. I thought it tuned out really cute!
This is a necklace I made for my sister in law Alisa. I am really loving the charms lately! I made a random pattern which I am so proud of. Random is so hard for me!
Now for my quilting. Man this quilting business is a lot of work! It is really time consuming as well, but I love it! I found a foot so I can sew accurate seam allowances but it is still hard. Practice is the only way to get better. So I will keep sewing away.
This quilt is one I finished piecing today. I have it all laid out to be sewn together. 80 blocks will keep me busy for a while. The pattern is a disappearing nine patch. I am not sure what size it will be when I am done. Hopefully close to a lap size.
I got the idea from this tutorial.
I made my first stacked coins baby quilt. I love the pattern! You can use scraps for a really random look. I used two charm packs in Swanky by Moda. The white sashing looks really good once it's quilted and looks all crinkly.
This quilt is almost done. It has a really cute border that I haven't tackled yet. This is one of my favorites! I love all the bright colors. I'm not sure I can give this one up.
I got this crazy idea to make two log cabin baby quilts. I get ideas in my head and I can't move on until I try them out. These babies are interesting. Each section of fabric sewn you have to iron and square up. Ugh!
I used the left over fabric from Shanda's baby bedding and added two more scraps I had from making bags for this one. I just decided to applique flowers in some of the corners so I am not all the way done. I always seem to add more work for myself.
Here is a close up of the flower.
I need some quilts for boys since I don't know anyone having a girl. Here is my first boy quilt. I think I might need to save it in case I have a boy one day. I really love the color combination.

I really like this quilt style because you can combined so many different kinds of fabric and have it look great.

I used this tutorial for both quilts.
I have lots of quilt tops but none of them are finished. I really want to learn how to quilt all the layers together on my sewing machine. I would love to send them all out and have them done on a long arm, but that would brake my bank. So I have been reading up on it and I ordered a foot for my machine so I can start with the basics. If anyone has any tips on quilting I would love any help I can get!

WOW! I am pretty sure I need one of those watches. I like them because they are not huge. I have small wrists. I may need you to make me one. You are one crafty gal. Let me know how much you would charge. I like the brown one you made and I would want a black one too! Just let me know :)
I wish I had the time and the space to do tons of projects. The blanket tops all look really good. I have a few tops that need to be quilted but I have no idea when I will ever have time to do them.
You are SO talented. :) Love all of it!

Look at you missy. I am so impressed. They all turned out great. I love the boy log cabin, and Savy's bag? What a perfect prize for her. I wish you still lived here so I could join in on the creating once in a while. :)
Your projects all look great! The quilts are gorgeous and so creative. BTW, I am having a girl, ha, ha, j/k. No but really it all looks fabulous!
I bow down to the master. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all of it. Savy's bag is ADORABLE and with that crayon roll--how fun! I think it is time for you to come on another fabric run to Utah. When do the new fabric lines come out?
I've worked on a big fat NOTHING in the sewing department! But I did get a few more of my felt bags finished. When they're all done I'm going to post pictures and then send them on their way.
Those quilts are awesome. I've saved all of our old jeans and I am going to make a blanket with thme. Someday I hope. (Bytheway, I'm friends with Wemdu and Rookie) Love your blog!
