We had a very busy, stressful, but fun weekend!
Friday Christian left to go out of town. It was -18 degrees outside, so Jellybean and I were stuck in the house for yet another day. I was getting a little stir crazy so I decided to make new pillows for our sectional. I got all the fabric from JoAnn's earlier in the week. I ended up making five pillows while Jellybean was taking her nap. I still need to make a few more before the project is finished, but I love how they turned out.
It was 20 degrees on Sat, so I was taking full advantage of the warm up and getting out of the house. I got Jellybean ready and turned on a little show in my bedroom to keep her busy while I went to get our things together. I ran down stairs to the garage to warm up the car and when I went to come back inside the door was locked. The only key we have was with Christian in a different state. I kept trying the door thinking it maybe was just stuck. I never lock this door.
Instantly I started to panic. My baby was upstairs alone probably crawling all over the place. I couldn't remember if I shut the gate on the stairs. I started to cry and bang on the door. As if that would help. I called Christian to see what to do. He wanted me to see if I could pry the door open with a crowbar. Didn't work. He said " hit the door knob as hard as you can", didn't work either. I started to cry even harder.
I went to my next door neighbor Tracy's house hoping her husband was home to help me. I couldn't even talk when she answered the door. He was out of town also. So she called 411 to see how long a lock smith would take. None in our area. (what?) She called the fire department to see what we should do and got an answering machine. Good thing there wasn't a fire! Tracy decided we should just call 911. I was so embarrassed but I needed to get to my baby. There was a cop within 3 min of my house. He got the door open with a screw driver, a credit card, and the crowbar. As soon as the door was open both the cop and I went in the house and Jellybean was sitting at the top of the stairs with her shoes and socks off and her bow in her hand. She had a big smile on her face and just kept saying mom over and over again. She was in there alone for around 20 min. Luckily I did shut the gate! I have never felt so happy to be with my baby.
( We now have three keys so hopefully this won't happen again)
All I wanted to do is go to Target to get Jellybean a new toy and a hat for me. Too much drama to leave the house! Thank you Mr. Officer!
This is the damage to the garage door. Not to bad considering I hit it as hard as I could over and over again.
My weekend was so much better when Christian came home Monday morning. It felt so good to have him home. He was off work because of the holiday so we got to spend the whole day together as a family. Something we haven't done in a long time.
We went downtown and had lunch at Jimmy John's. It was so delicious! Of course Jellybean's favorite was the dessert! It was such a fun lunch date.
We had to walk a little ways but luckily it was close to 20 degrees and the sun was shining.

Ash- Oh my gosh, I can't beleive that happened! That would've totally freaked me out and it sounds like something I would do! Luckily Jellybean had everything under control! I have been thinking about you lately! I miss you. Come visit me. Loves- Ging
Ashley I feel your pain! That happened to me when Josh was about 3 months old. We never lock our door out to our garage either and so we don't have a hidden key. I took Josh and my purse and keys and went back out to unload groceries. I got locked out with Josh in. At least he was safe in a carseat asleep. I had to go to my neighbors and call my husband to bring me a key. He was busy but was able to get my dad to bring me a key. After that we got extra keys made and have one hidden in our garage. Let me tell you, I have had to use it twice since then! I am glad it was only 20 min and not longer.
Cute pillows by the way. I love how creative you are.
Oh my heck! That is SOOOO scary! I would have been bawling too! What program do you use to make the scrapbook pages? I love it! and the pillows are to die for!
Amanda-
I use photoshop for my picture collages and for my digi scrapbooking.
Oh Ashley! When Allyson told me about it my heart broke for you--talk about adventures you don't want to have all alone in Chicago! We'll blame it on your husband, "Murphy's", awful luck.
You are so good at the projects (especially completing projects, which is certainly not my forte)--those pillows are fabulous. I ADORE the peek-a-boo page. Probably one of my favorites you've ever made. Well done! (And is that your new hat you have on at Jimmy John's? You must have made it to Target!)
Do post about this new prize of yours. LUCKY!
LOVE the pillows. :) I'm glad you guys are ok. Scary..scary...scary.
Darling pillows. Love the new layout. Keep sharing the ones you make for your class. As for locking your yourself out. I was so sad when you first called. That has to be so hard being far away and all alone. I am glad all is well and Addy stayed safe. Cute hat, and let's hear all about that new camera sis! I am so excited for you. YIPEE!!!
that is so sad not for jelly bean but for you! mom's always cry harder than the kids, I'm glad she was just sitting there... by the way the pillows are way way cute good job... there fabulous... that class you are taking is going to come in very handy for me.. thanks :) j/k
The pillows look great!
Yikes! I'll bet your heart just shattered when you tried to get back inside. It's so good babies don't judge us on our mommy mistakes. I'm glad it all worked out in the end.
Wow what a weekend. I wanted to cry with you when you were telling your story about locking Jellybean in the house alone. I thought I had locked the kids in the house alone when we first moved in. I did lock the back door, but the front door takes alot to open it. I didn't know that at the time. I have since learned the trick. It was me and the cable guy trying to get the door opened. Luckily the kids were taking a nap at the time. I need to get extra keys and hide them somewhere on the outside of the house.
I am so glad you got inside to your baby. Once Carter locked himself in the car and it was running. Good thing it was or he would have burned up. Before the locksmith got to our house (we live a ways out of town) we got Carter to unlock the door. He was in there for like 30 minutes. It can be so scary.
Love the pillows and digi page.
That is a very scary story! I would have been hysterical!!! Cute layout with the digital scrapbooking and cute pillows. You got some serious skills goin on!!!
I got it done from a woman named Tesha and it's called Permanent Makeup by Tesha. My sister in law is really good friends with her. If you want more info let me know. It is 200$ and that includes your first touch up.
That is so scary! I'm so glad she was okay and that you had a police man to help you. I can't believe that the fire department and a lock smith were unavailable. I LOVE the pillows!
